The research focus of the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Geriatric Assessment Program is the study of the determinants and consequences of clinical decisions and health care delivery in older persons.

The Program focuses on various areas of investigation, including the design and execution of clinical trials; development and testing of decision aids; evaluation of the social and economic impact of new technology; and development of clinical practice guidelines.

The approach is multi-disciplinary in collaboration with institutions including the University of Ottawa, Ottawa Hospital Loeb Health Research Institute and the Sisters of Charity Institute on the Health of the Elderly. The goal is to provide bench-to-bedside transfer of knowledge that add years to the life, and life to the years of older persons.
